Karen Watson
Artist, Illustrator
 |
 |
Karen Watson has over twenty-five years of professional experience creating
visual narrations. Her mixed media, collage artwork combines her
love of painting, words and photography. Adept at distilling the
kernel of a complex idea, Karen is able to translate, communicate
and express ideas in a powerful and truthful way. |
 |
Karen's
work, which often deals with social justice and human issues, has
graced the editorial pages of many newspapers. She worked closely
with the late, Honorable A. Leon Higginbotham, Jr., who included
her art in his final volume on race in America, Shades of Freedom.
Karen's commerorative poster for the National Organization of Women
prompted thanks from Gloria Steinham for a "work of beauty
and strength." Watson was recently commissioned by the New
York State Bar Association to create a cover commemorating the terrorist
attacks of September 11th. |
